Healthfirst covers custom orthotic devices, including:
- Custom braces (ankle, knee, wrist, elbow, back, neck)

Healthfirst offers multiple plan types in New York:

Get a prescription
Your physician provides a prescription for the prosthetic or orthotic device. We can help coordinate with your doctor's office if needed.

We verify your benefits
We contact Healthfirst to verify your coverage and confirm what you'll owe out-of-pocket based on your plan type.

We submit prior authorization
Healthfirst requires prior authorization for prosthetics and orthotics. We handle all documentation and follow up with Healthfirst's review team.

We create your custom device
Once approved, we scan or cast your limb, create a test socket or device, and work with you until the fit is perfect.

We bill Healthfirst directly
After delivery, we submit claims directly to Healthfirst. You'll receive an Explanation of Benefits showing what Healthfirst paid and any remaining balance.

Medicaid Managed Care members
If you have Healthfirst through New York Medicaid, prosthetics and orthotics are covered with no copays, deductibles, or out-of-pocket costs.
Medicare Advantage members
Healthfirst Medicare members pay according to Medicare Part B guidelines:

20% coinsurance after deductible
Some Healthfirst Medicare plans offer enhanced benefits with lower cost-sharing.
Essential Plan and marketplace members
